You are fully armed. You have an impressive collection of guns, knives, and various other weapons, so why should you learn how to defend yourself without using a weapon? There are several reasons, actually. According to the FBI, in the United States a violent crime occurs about every 27 seconds. Now, when the SHTF what do you think is going to happen to that statistic? Call me crazy, but my guess is it is going to go up – a lot.
So here are five very compelling reasons why you need to learn self-defense – street fighting for survival. One day your life or the lives of your family may depend on that knowledge.
We live in a world that is not safe
The world we live in now is not safe. In the event of a major disaster, terrorist attack, government collapse – any event that threatens the stability of our society – it isn’t enough to own a few guns. You need to know how to defend yourself in a variety of ways from using weapons to setting booby traps to street fighting. It is fine to hope for the best, but you better be preparing for the worst. You never know when it will be your family that is under attack and you have to defend them any way that you can.
Your weapon may not always be where you can get to it
You plan to carry your weapon with you at all times, but sometimes it isn’t practical. What will you do with your shotgun while you are chopping wood? How will you get to your Glock when someone comes out of nowhere and confronts you? Sometimes the only weapon to can depend on is your own body, skill, and abilities.
Weapons can malfunction
Your guns, rifles, shotguns, and other weapons may not always function the way they are supposed to and you have to be ready with an effective, hardcore Plan B in the event that happens. If you are attacked and try to use a weapon, only to have it malfunction, your first response is likely to be panic. Panic will get you killed. Panic will get your family killed. If you want to survive you have to learn how to do it with the help of weapons and without them.
It hones your street awareness skills
Learning self-defense will teach you the techniques of hand-to-hand combat. It will teach you how to defend yourself and your family without using a weapon. There is the added benefit, though, to self-defense training. It makes you more aware of your surroundings. It will prepare you to always be ready so if something should happen and you are attacked you will respond on a finely tuned instinct as opposed to a chaotic panic reaction. You may experience a moment of shock, but then the instinct will kick in and you can take care of business.
It builds your confidence whether you are armed or unarmed
When you are properly trained in street-fighting you gain confidence in yourself and your abilities. It doesn’t matter whether you are armed or unarmed, you can feel secure that you are able to protect your family and yourself – and you don’t need a gun to do it. This confidence burns like a fire through you, touching everything that you do.
